4-Ingredient Orange Sauce Recipe for Duck, Goose, or Chicken

This recipe combines two things I love: traditions and food.  My favorite holiday is Christmas and with Christmas comes some pretty fantastic Christmas traditions.  And what’s better than Christmas traditions? Christmas food traditions.  We have traditions for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, from the appetizers that we make for Christmas Eve dinner (my favorite: water chestnuts wrapped in bacon) to a special Christmas day meal.  For the past few years on Christmas Day we make either duck or goose.  It’s one of my favorite meals, especially considering I only get to enjoy it once a year.  Something that makes the meal even more fantastic is orange sauce.  Orange sauce is perfect to pair with duck, goose, or chicken and is very easy to make.

Ingredients for Orange Sauce

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. corn starch
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup butter (cut in slices)

How to Make Orange Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch.

Slowly stir in orange juice.  Turn on medium heat.

Add butter slices and melt over medium heat.  Stir consistently.

Cook and stir until the sauce has slightly thickened and until the mixture has turned bright orange.
