How to Make Your Own Scratch Off Cards

I’m a big fan of scratch off cards.  Not because I love to gamble or I look forward to winning (ha!) money.  I enjoy the feeling of satisfaction that comes when you scratch all the shimmery paint off the card.  And I mean all of it (shout out to my fellow Type-A people!).  Luckily, I now don’t have to spend money on something that will likely not even win my money back….I made my own and you can, too!  Plus, you can customize your scratch off cards to fit the occasion.

Cover the area that you’d like to be scratchable with packing tape.  You can either cover the whole area or just cover the part that you’re planning on painting.  I did a combination of both for my cards.

Cover your scratch-off areas with paint.  The first layer will look really thin. That’s okay because you’ll ultimately need about 3 coats of paint and the layers will make the paint more opaque.
